Sweden
- has the highest per capita number of reported rapes in Europe.
- That number has quadrupled in the last 20 years, as conviction rates have decreased.
- On 23 April 2010 Carina Hägg and Nalin Pekgul (respectively MP and chairwoman of Social Democratic Women in Sweden) wrote in the Göteborgs-Posten that “up to 90% of all reported rapes never get to court.

11 forward, 4 back. Wow.
12 forward, 2 back.
Am I supposed to feel guilty for being raised in a first world country? I really don’t give a fuck. My dad was fiscally responsible and a small business owner and he provided well for me without raising me to expect things on a silver platter. I appreciate the life that I have, but what the fuck is the point of showing me steps forward and steps back?
This just irritated me for some reason.

Three forward Twelve back.
Also Peter, clearly the first world country thing is irrelevant to the outcome of this. Unless we were born in different countries and I didn’t realize that.
Oh, and also: geographic location.
For example, nºs 17 and 18: we live in a country that’s 80% white, is it really surprising that the majority of people in the media and in power “look like [me]”? That’s a disingenuous statement if I ever saw one. I understand that representation of minorities isn’t on par with their part of the population, but come on. A white person isn’t necessarily going to have my views and a black person isn’t necessarily going to have the views of the black community. I’d be willing to have a 100% white Congress if the voters in all districts felt that their needs and wants were being met. Y’know what I’m saying? Again, I understand that in a lot of cases a minority candidate won’t get elected for that reason, but it’s also very possible that minorities could vote in a white person. It’s not this absolute “people like you in power? BAM, ENTITLEMENT”.
Are you freakin’ serious? The only person making you feel guilty about your privilege is you. It’s useless and won’t help anyone, get over your guilt and get over yourself. I’m not even going to comment on your whole weird race-rant, I’m just leaving it up there so people can see how ridiculous you sound.
Oh, piss off. The whole point is that I don’t feel guilty for having an easy life, and that I think it’s completely retarded for gimmicks like that above photo to try and make people feel like they did something wrong for having the life that they have.
And like I said (albeit poorly), the questions about race were disingenuous. People of the same race won’t necessarily make life better for people of the same race.
If you didn’t feel guilty you wouldn’t have thought this list was trying to make you feel guilty, because it’s really not, you’re projecting all over that shit.
People of the same race won’t necessarily make life better for people of the same race, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive for equal representation.
Others have agreed with me that it has a very negative tone. So, eh, your opinion.
And why the fuck would we strive for equal representation? Assuming that we should give race any importance at all (it really shouldn’t have any), why would you expect to have minorities represented by 50% of the political leaders when they make up 20% of the population?
It’s all irrelevant anyway, since the only people who should be leaders should be those who are capable and meet the needs of their constituents. Race, again, shouldn’t be a factor. Would it be nice if all groups in society had equal numbers of representatives? Sure. But as long as everyone’s voice is heard equally, the actual representation (in the “looks like me” sense) doesn’t matter.
Am I making sense? I’d want people who can best represent the minority communities, regardless of the race of that representative. My views toward this operate, I suppose, a bit outside the reality of the situation (which I admitted when I said that yes, we should strive for more minority leaders), but my position is based on my belief that we should not accept our flawed racial system as the environment in which to operate. If you go “given this situation, we need to do this” you’re supplying tacit submission to status quo.
Others have agreed with me that it doesn’t have a negative tone. So, eh, your opinion. Yeah see, this is a moot point because the two arguments just cancel each other out.
I’m not just talking about political leaders, (and neither is the list, in fact Q17 & Q18 don’t even mention race, or political leaders, they could be referring to disability etc but whatever) i’m talking about everywhere. I’m saying that white, heterosexual, able-bodied people should not been seen as the norm even if they are statistically the majority of the population. Other people deserve a voice and they deserve to see people like them in politics, in the media, everywhere. And i don’t really think you disagree with this, but you’ve gone off on an odd tangent, i don’t know how the subject of you whining about a graphic trying to make you feel guilty turned into a discussion about the race of political leaders. I’m done.
Haha! Brilliant.
“For example, nºs 17 and 18: we live in a country that’s 80% white, is it really surprising that the majority of people in the media and in power “look like [me]?]“
It’s not talking about whether you’re white or not? You think all white people will look like you? You’re so single minded about feeling persecuted that even with the myriad of variation in peoples appearance you pick only the colour of your skin. There are so many musicians and celebrities (i.e. in the media, TV etc) of different ethnicities that people can look like, I don’t see how you judged this to be the only factor.
The table seems to be a vague reflection of what is perceived to put you ahead in western culture anyway so writing paragraphs about percentages of white population is irrelevant and boring.](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l7p7fv2Xbu1qbqz32o1_400.png)
